Treatment overview

Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase injection. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that is responsible for the catalysis of hyaluronidase acid. The hyaluronic acid used in the dermal fillers is cross-linked, giving it a gel-like consistency, and making it resistant to the hyaluronidase naturally present in the body. When the dermal fillers are placed unevenly or excessively, an injection of hyaluronidase can be injected into the targeted area to metabolize the fillers.

An area previously treated with hyaluronic acid dermal filler is injected with a controlled amount of hyaluronidase using small acupuncture-like needles to remove or dissolve the filler with minimum discomfort. The procedure itself takes up to twenty minutes and the results are permanent.
